AFP State PAC Announces Additional State Legislature Endorsements in Georgia

Atlanta, Georgia—Today, Americans for Prosperity State PAC threw its support behind a second slate of candidates running in contested primaries in Georgia.

Speaker Jon Burns (HD-159), Majority Whip James Burchett (HD-176), Reps. Mike Cameron (HD-1), Steve Tarvin (HD-2), Mitchell Horner (HD-3), and non-incumbents Jack Miller (HD-47) and Robert Pruitt (HD-133) will have AFP State PAC’s backing in their primary races.

These lawmakers have earned AFP State PAC’s endorsement for their commitment to protecting Georgia’s taxpayers, lowering barrier to work and employment, expanding education freedom for Georgia’s students, and supporting regulatory reforms.

AFP State PAC Senior Advisor Tony West issued the following statement after announcing the endorsed candidates:

“Georgians have seen amazing progress this year as the legislature embraced transformative policies to advance regulatory reform, remove barriers to employment and entrepreneurship, and lower the tax burden on hardworking Georgians. These champions helped get good policy to the Governor’s desk, but they aren’t going to stop there – or rest on their laurels. We have more work to do to make Georgia freer and more prosperous. We need these policy champions in Atlanta to keep moving freedom forward in the Peach State.”

Background

Rep. James Burchett

Rep. Burchett has ably served in the position of Majority Whip, helping to shepherd conservative legislation through the State House. He is a consistent vote for lower taxes and a more prosperous Georgia.

Speaker Jon Burns

Speaker Burns has championed significant bills to make Georgia a great place to live, work, and raise a family. From property tax overhaul to insurance reforms, and consistently lowering the tax burden year after year, the Georgia House prioritizes the issues facing regular Georgians. Our priorities on regulatory reform (HB 1247) and employment reform (HB 987) both began as House bills and were successfully sent to the governor’s desk.

Rep. Mike Cameron

Rep. Cameron is a leader dedicated to the principles of economic freedom and limited government. He has been a consistent ally under the Gold Dome during his time in the State House, fighting for his district and more liberty and less top-down government solutions. He was a co-sponsor in 2026 of priority legislation on regulatory reform (House Bill 1247) and employment reform (House Bill 987).

Rep. Mitchell Horner

As the vice-chairman of Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee, Horner has done great work protecting taxpayers and working toward more accountability and transparency in how the state spends taxpayer dollars. Horner is also an advocate of the REINS Act, a national priority, and co-sponsored legislation in 2026 to sunset outdated regulations (House Bill 1078) and end the big government practice of judicial deference (House Bill 1247). Additionally, Horner has a record of supporting parents and kids by voting for reforms that empower parents to have more authority over their child’s education.

Jack Miller

A first-time candidate, Miller will bring a fresh outlook to the state capitol. He will be prepared to stand up for the taxpayer, not special interests, and look for long-term solutions to the problems facing the state.

Robert Pruitt

A former state representative, Pruitt will bring his business and job creation experience to the state legislature. As a small business owner, Pruitt will stand for pro-growth policies while protecting prosperity for Georgians by championing lower taxes, regulatory reform and parental oversight in education.

Steve Tarvin

As the chairman of the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee, Tarvin has done great work protecting taxpayers and working toward more accountability and transparency in how the state spends taxpayer dollars. Tarvin is also an advocate of the REINS Act, a national priority, and co-sponsored legislation in 2026 to sunset outdated regulations (House Bill 1078) and end the big government practice of judicial deference (House Bill 1247). Additionally, Tarvin has a record of supporting parents and kids by voting for reforms that empower parents to have more authority over their child’s education.
